Has anyone seen the movie “Click”? While Adam Sandler movies are usually not at the tip top of my list, this one actually goes down as a favorite in my book. The general gist of the movie is that Adam’s character recieves a ‘Universal’ remote control, that allows him to fast forward and skip through parts of his life that he doesn’t particularly want to bother with. If you’ve studied anything about the Laws of Attraction, you will quickly see that this ‘Universal remote’ is quite a good metaphor for how the Universe really works. When ever there is an activity that the character wants to skip through, he hits fast forward. But to his dismay he later realizes that the ‘Universe’ (remote) responds by remembering his requests, and always fast forwards over that particular activity (i.e. a fight w/his wife, and then unfortunately even making love with his wife!). In the end he realizes that by having lived his life with the ‘as soon as this is over with’ approach, he winds up at the end of his life having lost all that was truly dear to him.
To me this movie is a great reminder that (as some wise person said):

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

This can be a tough one to accept, but important to at least try to embrace along the way. I think about it often when I’m feeling stressed, or like ‘every thing will be fine as soon as (blank) is over with’.  There is always another twist, another turn and another challenge in life waiting for us just around the corner. The bigger challenge is to embrace the ride – twists, turns and all – infuse it with grattitude and magnetize happiness along the way.

The Dream Detective

This weekend I actually watched the 1971 version of “Willy Wonka” for the first time (yes, it’s true!) Below is a quote from my FAVORITE scene. I think it really illustrates how many people don’t really give dreams much attention or credit, until they have some kind of unusual experience with them.

Enjoy! : )

Mr. Hoffstetter: I’m still having these dreams, Doctor. And I still can’t stop myself from believing them.
Psychiatrist: I’ve told you before, Mr. Hoffstetter: to believe in one’s dreams is a manifestation of insanity. And the sooner you accept this, the sooner you’ll get well.
Mr. Hoffstetter: But I dreamed the Archangel appeared and whispered into my ear, and told me where to find a Golden Wonka Ticket.
Psychiatrist: [looks up from his notes, interested] And what exactly did he say?
Mr. Hoffstetter: Well, what difference does that make? This was a dream, a fantasy! I mean, you said just now…
Psychiatrist: [furiously] Shut up, Hoffstetter, and tell me where the ticket is!

Welcome to my blog. I’d like to start off by sharing with you my intent and desire for an increased public awareness about the value that working with dreams can bring to our lives in terms of personal enrichment, creativity, and being in touch with our true nature.
If everyone listened to the messages that their dreams hold, the world could be an even better place to live in! People would be more in touch with their souls. They would take better care of the planet, be nicer to each other, and be more in touch with their true calling and purpose in life.  Those kinds of people aren’t likely to start wars or hurt each other.

I believe we are living on the brink of the age of enlightenment, and some day dream work will be a part of every day life. I would love to see it being taught in schools, and commonly discussed over breakfast between spouses, families, friends, lovers and house mates.

I feel passionate about helping people to understand their dreams and apply what they learn from them to enrich their lives.

I hope you will enjoy my blog and my site, and that you will enjoy learning about dreams!
Until next time,

Mimi
